Visit the most important Catholic religious sites in Israel/Holy Lands
This is a sample of a Catholic Program group tour through Israel and the Holy Lands. Changes/additions/deletions can be made to create a tour designed exclusively for your group.
Day 01 - Arrival
You will be warmly welcomed at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) by your local guide and driver before travelling to Nazareth for overnight.
Day 02 - Nazareth
Start the day with a lovely buffet breakfast in your hotel, then visit the Annunication Church where the announcement of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary of the approaching virgin birth was made (Luke 1:26-38). Visit St Joseph the Carpenter, Mary's Well & Springs before driving to Cana to visit the Church of Cana where Jesus performed his first miracle "the transformationn of water into wine" (John 2:1-11, 4:46-54). Finally, proceed to Mt Tabor, the site of the transfiguration of Jesus Christ before returning to your hotel.
Day 03 - Tiberias
After breakfast at the hotel, travel to Mt of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-8). Visit Tabgha, Church of the Multiplication of Fish & Loaves, then proceed to St Peter Primacy to enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Continue to Capernaum where Jesus lived and healed the sick, preaching in the synagogue and performing miracles (Matthew 9:1, 4:13). After visiting the House of Peter, return to your hotel.
Day 04 - Haifa, Caesarea, Tel Aviv (Jaffa) and Jerusalem
This morning you will check-out of your hotel after breakfast then travel to Haifa. Ascend Mt Carmel to enjoy a panoramic view of the Bay, then on to visit Stella Maris, the Cave of Alia as well as Muhraka and the Hanging Gardens of the Bahai' Shrine.
Passing through Meggido, proceed to Caesarea to visit the water aquaduct and Roman Theatre, hippodrome, Crusader fortress. Travel to Tel Aviv Jaffa, the commercial capital of Israel then on to Jaffa to visit Peter's Church, the House of Simon the Tanner, the Old City of Jaffa and the old port area.
Proceed to Jerusalem and enjoy a panoramic view of the Old City. Check in to your hotel in Jerusalem for the night.
Day 05 - Mt of Olives, Mt Zion, Ein Karem and Bethlehem
Breakfast at your hotel, then travel to Mt of Olives to vsit the Church of the Ascension, Peter Noster Church, the Dominos Flevit Church (where Jesus wept over Jerusalem), then continue on to the Garden of Gethsemane.
Drive to t Zion to visit the St Peter in Gallicuntu, King David's Tomb and the UPper Room, Dormition Abbey and on to Eim Karem. Here visit St John the Baptist Church and the Church of Visitation (Luke 1:39-56).
Proceed to Bethlehem to visit the Nativity Church, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, as well as the Milk Grott.
Finally drive to Shepherd's Field just outside Bethlehem before returning to Jesuralem for overnight
Day 06 - Old City of Jerusalem
After breakfast, proceed to the Old City of Jerusalem, entering by foot through Dung Gate. Visit the Wailing (Western) Wall, and on to Temple Mount (Mt Moriah where the Area of the Mosque was built).
Walk the traditional Way of the Cross - the 14 Stations of the Cross; visit the Holy Sepulcher Church and the Empty Tomb of Jesus Christ.
Back to your hotel for the night.
Day 07 - Bethany, Jericho and the Dead Sea
Breakfast then travel to Bethany to visit the House of Mary & Martha and the Tomb of Lazarus. Our next stop if Jericho, the oldest town in the Holy Lands and the oldest continuously inhabited town in the world. Visit the Sycamore Tree where Zacharious the tax collector climbed to view Jesus, and view Mt of Temptation. Drive to the Dead Sea. At 430m below sea level, it is the lowest place on earth. It's water is 7 times saltier than regular sea water and contains 30+ minerals, many known to provide therapeutic relief.
Return to Jerusalem for overnight
Day 08 - Departure
We offer the choice of returning to Tel Aviv for a flight to your home (included in package price), or the opportunity to travel across the border into Jordan to continue your religious exploration.
Jordan is home to many major religious sites, including where John the Baptist carried out baptisms in the Jordan River, including Jesus', Mt Nebo where God permitted Moses to view the Promised Land to name just two.
An additional programme can be arranged - even for a smaller group if some have to return home - so let's talk about this option as well.
