Kathmandu, Nepal 9 DAYS Starting at $1880

What to expect in Kathmandu

You may have started this journey with an interest in the mountains of Nepal but no trip is complete without a good experience in Kathmandu. From the moment you meet your guide at the airport in Kathmandu, you are in good hands. There is no need to navigate the airport scene or figure out how to find your hotel in the back alleys of Boudha or Thamel. Don't worry, there is ample opportunity to get out and explore. You will be able to immerse yourself in the bustling network of alleys, streets, and buildings as you take in the city. Our guides, however, take care of the details so you can take in the surroundings. Your time in Kathmandu will also include good food, getting to know your guide, and an orientation for the trek. By the time we depart the city, everyone will be prepared for the mountains and your cultural curiosity will have been stoked.

Acclimatization

Though 10,000 feet is high for most people coming from the US or Europe, it is relatively low or average for Nepal. Still, our guides are tuned in to how each of our guests are feeling and will take care to help you acclimatize in an appropriate way.

Trekking in the Annapurna Region

The average day's trek for this journey is 3-6 hours, allowing ample time to get from point to point each day. Evenings are spent in local village guest houses and guides will help with each detail of the day allowing you to focus on the trail.

Mountain Flights

There are two short mountain flights on this itinerary. The first takes you from Kathmandu to Pokhara and the second from Pohkara to Kathmandu. These small flights are a quintessential element to travel within Nepal.

Pokhara

Pokhara is the second most populous city in Nepal but it is very different when compared to Kathmandu. It is located on the shore of Phewa Lake. Three of the world's ten highest mountains (Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu) are within 35 miles of the valley, though Pokhara is only 822m or 2696 ft above sea level.
