Fingers crossed for some prime foliage, but either way pack your plaid and prepare yourself for a magical time with like-minded people. Scroll down to see some of the many highlights, then click on the "itinerary" tab to see the full details!

Vines at the Fox Run Vineyard are shown. The leaves are bright green, and the green grapes are hanging in bunches. The sky is blue in the background with light clouds.      Detailed Journeys founder and tour leader stands behind a water fall in Watkins Glen State Park. She leans against the wooden barrier and reaches out her hand to touch the water.    Someone pours a glass of red wine at the tasting counter of Ravines Wine Cellar in Geneva, New York. There is a potted plant in a metal container to the left that is a green succulent that has a lot of stems wildly going in every direction.

FLX Waterfalls

The Finger Lakes region is known for its many waterfalls and gorges. During your free time on Saturday we highly recommend you check out Watkins Glen State Park (pictured), the gorge features 19 waterfalls of differing heights. The path includes a lot of stairs, but you can take it at your own pace. Included on our itinerary we will stop to visit at least 4 waterfalls, all of which are very accesible and don't involve hikes.

Sunset Sail on Schooner True Love

We'll bring some wine along with us to enjoy as we take in the sites from the water! The Schooner True Love has a storied history, including being used in Hollywood films. Built in Wiscasset, Maine in 1928 she has spent time up and down the eastern seaboard of the U.S. and in the Caribbean, then made her way to Seneca Lake through the rivers and canal system in 2008.

Experience Four Wineries

The Finger Lakes Region of New York is also known for its wine and is home to over 100 wineries! During our time together we will visit:

  • Fox Run Vineyard for our included welcome lunch & wine flight
  • Damiani Wine Cellars for an included stop to purchase wine that we'll bring aboard our sunset sail
  • Tabora Farm & Winery for an included wine tasting, then you'll have time to visit their deli and bakery
  • Ravines Wine Cellar for an included private tasting

If you don't drink at all or don't drink wine you are *more* than welcome to come on this tour! The above mentioned features that are included are part of the package price, but you will still enjoy your time with the group, the beautiful locations we'll see, and at Fox Run and Tabora they have wonderful food as well.

Visit Ganondagan

To start our tour we will visit the Ganondagan State Historic Site & National Historic Landmark. It is the original site of the 17th century Seneca town that existed there more than 350 years ago.

"Ganondagan’s full-size, Seneca Bark Longhouse (1998), pictured here, is fully furnished to reflect a typical Seneca family from the late 1600’s, complete with reproductions of 17th century Seneca objects and colonial-era trade goods. The newly built Seneca Art & Culture Center tells the story of Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) contributions to art, culture, and society."
