The trip was created to not only celebrate cultural diversity but also amplifies the collective voice of BIPOC women and their allies, advocating for equity, access, and opportunities within winter sports. In a small, picturesque mountain town, nestled deep in the heart of a winter wonderland, there stood a charming ski chalet. As the first snowflakes gently blanketed the landscape, excitement buzzed in the air among winter enthusiasts. Among them was YOU, a nature-loving adventurer, who had been yearning for a peaceful escape in the mountains. However, time was not on your side. The chalet's rooms were in high demand, and as you logged on to book, you realized that many of the rooms had already been taken...my oh my, how will this story end!
Meet your organizer
Hi! I'm Sojo, I'm a snowboarder, published author, app developer, filmmaker, and one of the founders of Salam LADC, a charitable organization in Lebanon dedicated to providing resources to refugees. I'm also a “cool mom” and wife. I created this trip to encourage women from diverse backgrounds, along with our allies, to come together in creating safe spaces to build community and enjoy mountain sports.
In my six years of snowboarding, I've had the incredible opportunity to explore slopes across the globe, including:
- Ski Amade (Austria)
- Chamonix (France)
- Val Torren (France)
- Treviso (Italy)
- Zermatt (Switzerland)
- Saas Fee (Switzerland)
- Almaty (Kazakhstan)
- Park City (Utah)
- Idre Fjall (Sweden)
- Netherlands (Indoor)
- Mt. Tremblant (Quebec)
- Big Sky (Montana)
- Mammoth (California)
- Valle Nevado (Chile)
Around two years ago, I embarked on a new journey, focusing on organizing retreats that aim to connect women with purpose-driven communities against the backdrop of their personal joy. In the case of our "Diversify the Mountain" retreat, the purpose revolves around building community that champions inclusion, and, of course, our shared joy of snowboarding.
