Your journey to Ghana begins today!

Depart New York for your overnight flight to Accra. Settle in, get some rest, and get ready for a journey filled with history, culture, connection, and celebration.

Upon arrival in Accra, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink, settle in, and take some time to relax after your overnight journey.

Later, gather for an orientation session and currency exchange as we prepare for the days ahead. Local dressmakers will also be available to take measurements for travelers interested in having custom Ghanaian garments created during the journey.

For those who arrive ready to start exploring, there will be an optional cultural experience this afternoon offering an early introduction to Accra’s colorful arts and creative scene.

Tonight, gather with your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner and celebrate the official beginning of our Ghana journey.

After breakfast, set out to discover the history and cultural heartbeat of Ghana’s capital.

Begin at the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, an important landmark dedicated to the influential Pan-African scholar and civil rights leader who made Ghana his home.

Continue to Black Star Square, one of the most recognizable symbols of Ghanaian independence and national pride.

Then visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, dedicated to Ghana’s first president and his extraordinary role in the country's independence movement. Explore the monuments, gardens, museum, and Eternal Flame of African Liberation while learning more about Nkrumah’s vision for a united Africa.

Later, return to the Art Center for a deeper look at Ghanaian craftsmanship and artistry. Browse locally made fabrics, artwork, jewelry, carvings, and other handcrafted pieces while putting those bargaining skills to work.

After breakfast, check out and leave Accra behind as we make our way toward Ghana’s beautiful Cape Coast region.

Travel through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, home to one of West Africa’s remaining tropical rainforests.

Begin with a guided nature walk through the lush forest while learning about native plants, traditional medicinal uses, and the natural ecosystem surrounding you.

Then it’s time to see Kakum from a completely different perspective.

Make your way onto the famous canopy walkway, suspended high above the forest floor. Surrounded by treetops and tropical greenery, it’s one of Ghana’s most memorable nature experiences.

After lunch, continue to your coastal hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to settle in, unwind, and enjoy a little downtime.

Today is one of the journey’s most powerful days.

Begin at Elmina Castle, the oldest European structure in sub-Saharan Africa. Walk through its courtyards and dungeons while learning about the lives of the enslaved Africans who were imprisoned within its walls.

It is difficult history, but history that deserves to be seen, remembered, and honored.

After lunch, continue to Cape Coast Castle, another deeply significant site in the story of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Walk through the dungeons and corridors, stand before the Door of No Return, and experience the symbolism of the Door of Return—a powerful moment of remembrance, reconnection, and homecoming.

This isn't simply a day of sightseeing. It's a day of reflection and honoring those who came before us.

After breakfast, check out and follow part of the former slave route to Assin Manso, one of the most sacred and meaningful stops on our journey.

Assin Manso served as the final bathing and resting place for enslaved Africans before they were forced onward toward the coast.

Spend time at the ancestral river and participate in a moment of remembrance and reconnection.

You’ll also learn about the ancestors whose remains were returned from the diaspora and reinterred here—a powerful symbol of homecoming and return.

From Assin Manso, continue to Kumasi, the royal capital of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Upon arrival, visit the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, where Ashanti history, royal regalia, and stories of resistance come to life.

Continue to the Manhyia Palace Museum, where centuries of Ashanti royal heritage and tradition are preserved.

After a meaningful day, check in to your hotel and enjoy the evening at your own pace.

Today, experience the creativity and craftsmanship of the Ashanti people.

Spend the day visiting three villages known for preserving some of Ghana’s most celebrated artistic traditions.

At Bonwire, enter the world of kente weaving and discover how colorful threads are transformed into intricate patterns rich with history and meaning.

At Ntonso, learn about Adinkra symbols and the values they represent—from strength and unity to wisdom, hope, and grace. See how these meaningful symbols are traditionally stamped onto fabric.

Then continue to Ahwiaa, known for its skilled wood carvers, where beautiful works emerge from pieces of wood in the hands of local artisans.

Beyond shopping for beautiful pieces, today gives you an opportunity to understand the meaning, skill, and generations of tradition behind the art.

Today is about identity, belonging, and connection.

Experience a traditional Akan Naming Ceremony, where you’ll be welcomed into a beautiful cultural tradition surrounded by chiefs, queen mothers, music, and ceremony.

Dress in royal attire and listen as Ashanti women perform traditional acapella songs.

During the ceremony, you’ll receive your Akan name, along with blessings from the chiefs and queen mothers. You’ll also receive a kente sash bearing both your birth name and your newly received ancestral name.

It is a deeply personal moment and one of the experiences that makes this journey so special.

After the ceremony, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight from Kumasi to Accra.

Upon arrival, transfer back to your hotel. Your dressmaker will return for final fittings for travelers who ordered custom garments earlier in the journey.

Later, return to Accra and get ready for our Farewell Dinner and Celebration.

Tonight is about celebrating Ghana, the memories we’ve made, the connections we’ve formed, and all the stories we’ll be taking home.

Because this journey may be coming to an end, but something tells us Ghana won’t be leaving you anytime soon.

Enjoy your final morning in Ghana before checking out and transferring to the airport for your flight home.

CANCELLATION POLICY

• The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
• Cancellations must be submitted in writing to [email protected]
  • Cancellations submitted on or before March 31, 2027 will be refunded the amount paid less the deposit and a $150 administration fee.
  • Cancellations submitted after March 31, 2027 will forfeit all payments made and no refund will be provided.

Seats are assigned by the airlines. If you would like a specific seat, contact the airline directly after you receive your travel document to request a specific seat.

Also note, that some airlines do not assign seats in advance for group bookings, and seats will be assigned at the airport upon check-in.
