Arrive in Dakar, Senegal where you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel for check in and then relax.
Rest of the day is at your leisure to relax after your international flight. Dakar, the capital of Senegal is a modern city of more than 1.5 million people. It is also the economic and political capital. Dakar is a modern city with all aspects of traditional African life. The city has beautiful contemporary buildings and some historical colonial houses. It is a vibrant city with active open-air markets, cafe terraces, and a wide range of hotels, delicious food and a great night life.

After breakfast depart for a sightseeing tour of Dakar. Visit Independence Square, the museum of black civilisations, the Kernel Market, with its colorful flowers, fruits, fabrics, clothing and souvenirs. Then move on to view the main government buildings. From there drive through Soweto Square to see the National Assembly and the main museum, Institut Fondemental d’Afrique Noir (IFAN),which houses an amazing collection of masks, statues and musical instruments from West Africa

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on an emotional and haunting experience with a full day tour to Goree Island, the departure point of millions headed for slavery in the Americas. The particular atmosphere that emanates from this bewitching island, a combination of magic and tragedy makes this place unique in the world. You will take a twenty minute ferry ride takes you to this once turbulent historical site. Now tranquil, Goree is a UNESCO World Heritage, which used to be a slaving station and was one of the first French settlements on the continent. The island has many clusters of pink colonial style houses, calm streets and a small beach. Visit the historically loaded ‘door of no return’. You have time to explore and visit the Museum Maison des Eclaves (Slaves’ House). Continue on a stroll up to the castle for a spectacular view of the Island and beyond. From here proceed for a visit to the Town Square, then on to the Historical Museum.

After lunch on your own, you will continue to the Pink Lake, located 40 minutes North of Dakar. This lake is famous for its remarkable pinkish colored water that can turn purple depending on the intensity of the sun’s rays. The landscape here is dunes covered with palm trees. Upon arrival here, you can enjoy a trekking around the dunes or spend time in the lake.

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart your hotel to discover the surroundings of the mystical pink lake. Visit villages before arriving on the sea bank. Have lunch on your own near the lake and have some time to relax before continuing onto Saint Louis. St Louis, the former Senegal's capital (1895-1902), is another French fortified settlement from the days of slave trading. With its name given by the French in honour of their king at the time (Louis XIV), Saint Louis is the oldest city to be created by Europeans on the western coast of Africa. Today, Saint Louis is considered both the intellectual capital of Senegal and the capital of good taste. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge is also classified in the patrimony of humanity by UNESCO. Saint Louis is a Mecca for Senegalese arts and culture.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a bush ride. Through runways with 4 x 4 vehicles, you will cross big red dunes banks. You will arrive in a small village called Rao and continue to Guelakh. Peulhs and Toucouleur are inhabitants of this typical village. You will visit a local school and the agricultural compound of women. Later in the afternoon, you will visit the city of Saint Louis by horse drawn carriages; discover typical district of Guet Ndar, visit the fishermen cemetery bordered by the fishing nets of the fish drying sheds. Afterwards, return to your hotel.

After breakfast, depart your hotel early in the morning to Bandia; one of the main game reserves of Senegal located in the Baobab forest of Sindia and surrounded by a bush dotted with traditional Serrer villages. The park is rich in wild animals such as giraffes, hippos, the rare elans of Derby (or horse antelopes), a variety of monkeys, zebras, and warthogs. Upon arrival, you will embark on a driving safari under the guidance of a park ranger. Return to Dakar afterward.

Sand painting and under glass painting are the two popular arts in Senegal. With much creativity, the Senegalese artists have developed these arts and given them international recognition.

After breakfast, depart your hotel for a visit to a Sand Painting gallery workshop. You will meet the artist who will lead you on a sand painting course. The group will be provided with equipment to work. Group members will have the opportunity to keep their artwork as a souvenir. Afterwards, depart the sand painting workshop and drive to the district of Medina where you will meet the masters of under-glass painting. You will be taught and participate in under glass painting which you will keep. Return to your hotel after the day's activities. Later in the night, check out of your hotel and depart to the airport for check in and final departure back home.
