

A Great Exploration for the Great American Solar Eclipse

Join this once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Great American Solar Eclipse in a way you've never experienced before. We will be out in Utah basking in the pristine presence of nature, hiking with the company of other adventurous like-minded women, exploring the shadows within ourselves, as we plunge into darkness during this full Solar Eclipse.
You have the option to choose from either a front country or backpacking experience. Both groups will spend the first night camping together, opening sacred space and exploring topics surrounding "our shadow". After spending two nights apart we will gather again on the last night for an extraordinary glamping experience and powerful closing ceremony.
Aptly themed, this trip will go deep and explore the shadow self. Be prepared to see one of the most incredible astrological phenomenon's while reflecting deeply on the shadows you are desiring to integrate into the light.
Both groups will learn about the park's history, native people, flora and fauna while hiking amongst cliffs, canyons, arches, mesas, and more.
After 3 nights of camping you’ll stop to eat at an award-winning restaurant before traveling on to enjoy an amazing glamping experience, indulge in a glorious hot shower and an onsite drive-in to watch a good film with friends and eat some popcorn.
This will be an incredibly special trip with so much depth, healing, transformation and connection.

Q. Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes! Only $500 is due at the time of booking to hold your spot. This is considered your deposit and is non-refundable. Each trip has the option for payment plans. You can view the payment plan by going to the "Invoice" section and scrolling down to "Price".
Q: Can Root Adventures help me with travel arrangements?
A: Once you secure your spot on the trip with your deposit, Root Adventures can help you navigate flights and travel. We work with 3rd party travel companies to help with this, especially when it comes to international travel.
Q: Do you recommend Travel Insurance?
A: Yes! In these uncertain times of travel, we highly recommend travel insurance. Travel Guard is our preferred provider, but you are welcome to use other providers.
Q: What can I expect for the wellness portion?
A: It’s very important to Root Adventures that our trips include mindful components. This might be yoga, meditation, journaling or other transformational activities. Every day we will have intentional practice and connect to nature, however this trip is for you! We encourage you to take time to rest, unplug, and do what feels right for you.
Q: Will I get to meet the other participants before the trip?
A: Yes. Each trip has two pre-trip calls via zoom. One will be about a month before departure and the second about a week before departure. You will have a chance to meet the other participants, the tour leader, and ask all remaining questions that you might have.

Important Trip Details
This trip is a two-group trip.
Both groups will be together for the first night and the last night. The middle two nights the groups will split up.
Group A will stay in the frontcountry and Group B will head off on a backcountry backpacking adventure.
Please be sure to choose which group you would like to be in when you sign up for the trip. Prices will differ as well.
Day 1, Groups A & B: Arrive in Salt Lake City, Transfer to Capitol Reef
Arrive in Salt Lake City by the early afternoon to meet your guides and fellow travelers. Enjoy lunch at a local brewery to get to know one another before making the 3.5-hour transfer to Capitol Reef National Park- watch as the desert landscape transforms right before your eyes. Upon arrival, you and the group will take some time to set up your frontcountry camp before taking an early evening hike to stretch your legs. Enjoy dinner just before the sun sets and the sky is filled with millions of stars.
After dinner we will partake in an opening ceremony to open sacred space, do a land acknowledgement, and set intentions for the great exploration of the self over the next few days.

Day 2, Group A; Hike & Tour, Capitol Reef National Park
In the morning there will be an optional guided welcoming of the day with mindfulness practice and gentle stretching to prep for the day's hike.
You’ll spend the entire day hiking the trails of Capitol Reef National Park. Prepare for an off-road adventure as your guides take you to trails off the beaten path and away from the crowds! You’ll learn about the park history, native people, flora & fauna and more! Breaks will be taken to ensure safety and accommodate various hiking levels. End the day back at camp with a refreshing dinner and plenty of time for a campfire with smores!
Around the campfire we'll continue the exploration of our "shadow" with self-reflection, journaling prompts, and conversation and connection.

Day 2, Group B: Backpack, Capitol Reef National Park ~7.5
In the morning there will be an optional guided welcoming of the day with mindfulness practice and gentle stretching to prep for the day's hike.
Get ready for an adventure. After a breakfast at camp you and your fellow travelers will gear up to head into the backcountry. Expect to spend most of the day hiking before getting to your first evening of backcountry camping. You’ll learn about the park's history, native people, flora and fauna and more as you hike amongst cliffs, canyons, arches, mesas, and more!
In the evening we'll continue the exploration of our "shadow" with self-reflection, journaling prompts, and conversation and connection.

Day 3, Group A: Solar Eclipse Hike
Get ready for an experience of a lifetime! Today, the Annular Eclipse is happening! A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth.
You'll take time in the morning to reflect on the significance of this event before hiking above the canyons of Capitol Reef ensuring a 360 view of the sky- to watch this eclipse unfold.
During this time you'll be given the opportunity to begin the powerful process of shadow-self integration.
After enjoying lunch along the trail you settle back at camp for an afternoon of yoga- allowing yourself to be fully connected to this space.

Day 3, Group B: Solar Eclipse Backpacking Trek ~8
Today the Annular Eclipse is passing right through Utah! A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth.
You'll take time in the morning to reflect on the significance of this event before packing up camp and continuing on your trek!
Mid-day you’ll be rewarded with this solar eclipse experience. During this time you'll be given the opportunity to begin the powerful process of shadow-self integration.
Take some time to connect with this space with an evening backcountry yoga session.

Day 4, Group A: Morning Hike, Transfer to Escalante For Glamping
After some gentle stretching and morning meditation, you’ll be packing up camp- but it’s not goodbye yet.
You’ll take one final morning to explore the trails of Capitol Reef National Park. You’ll meet up with the backpacking group before enjoying some rewarding and much deserved pie, while connecting over the days events.
In the early afternoon, you’ll be transferred to Escalante, Utah- where you’ll settle into a night of glamping with a hot shower. Mid-way we will stop for a farewell dinner at an award winning restaurant in Boulder, UT.
After settling into our accommodations we will gather for our closing ceremony and offering ceremony for our guides. We will offer words of appreciation and gratitude and present our monetary tip offering for all of their hard work.
End your night at the onsite drive-in with new found friends, a good film, and of course popcorn!

Day 4, Group B: Hike Out, Transfer to Escalante for Glamping ~4 miles
After some gentle stretching and morning meditation, you’ll be packing up camp- but it’s not goodbye yet.
You’ll hike out to meet up with the frontcountry group before enjoying some rewarding and much deserved pie. In the early afternoon, you’ll be transferred to Escalante, Utah- where you’ll settle into a night of glamping with a hot shower. Mid-way we will stop for a farewell dinner at an award winning restaurant in Boulder, UT.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and one last opportunity to gather to connect before having to say “until next time” to the southwest desert as you are transferred back to the Salt Lake City airport for your departing flight.
