Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic 7 DAYS

Sea Glass Wellness Retreat

Imagine waking up to the sound of soft waves rolling onto the shore and a warm Caribbean breeze drifting through the villa. Your day begins gently — fresh coffee, herbal tea, and a beautiful breakfast waiting for you as the sun rises over the ocean.

For those who want to ease into movement, a light morning stretch or yoga session sets the tone for a calm, energized day.

After breakfast, we head to the “secret spot” — a hidden stretch of shoreline known for its shimmering sea glass. With cool water, fresh coconut juice, and plenty of shade beneath the palms, the beach is accessible, peaceful, and unforgettable. We’ll spend about two hours wandering the tide line, filling our bags with ocean-polished treasures.

Once we've gathered an amazing collection, we return to the villa where a delicious Dominican lunch is served. The afternoon is yours to enjoy — wash and sort your sea glass, share your best finds, take a refreshing swim in the pool, relax with a book, or wander the neighborhood at your own pace.

Around 5pm we come together again for a gentle yoga stretch and a relaxed happy hour featuring a “drink of the day” (with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options). As the evening unfolds, we gather for dinner followed by a calming wellness circle — the perfect end to a day filled with creativity, nature, and connection.

Itinerary Overview

Our itinerary is thoughtfully planned around the low tide chart for Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (March 14–21) to ensure optimal sea glass hunting each day. Because low tide offers the best access and the most treasures, our beach adventures are scheduled to align with nature’s rhythm.

Please note that the itinerary is subject to change based on weather, staff availability, transportation, group requests, and unforeseen circumstances. We’ll always do our best to maintain the planned schedule, while also embracing a gentle, go-with-the-flow attitude so we can create a retreat experience that supports the entire group.

This flexible structure allows the week to unfold in the most beautiful way — guided by the sea, the tides, and the needs of the moment.

A sample day begins with Morning: yoga and gentle stretching, a refreshing beach walk, and a nourishing breakfast. In the Mid to Late Morning, we head out for a sea glass adventure at one of our favorite hidden beaches. The Afternoon flows with lunch at the villa, a jewelry-making workshop, and time to relax by the pool or beach. As the day winds down, Evening brings Happy Hour with the drink of the day, a delicious dinner, a peaceful sunset unwind, and an optional wellness circle to close out the night.

Sea Glass Adventures

Puerto Plata is home to some of the most extraordinary sea glass in the Caribbean, known for its rare colors, large pieces, and unique shapes. This coastline holds a fascinating history — rivers run through the nearby neighborhoods, and for decades, discarded glass and household items traveled downstream into the sea. Over time, the waves softened and transformed these remnants into the incredible treasures we find today scattered along the beaches.

Because of this, Puerto Plata offers an exceptional variety of colors you won’t easily find elsewhere: teal blues, rich pinks, deep purples, vibrant aquas, and even beautifully frosted large shards that amaze collectors. I especially love finding soft grey pieces — once parts of old TVs — and the thrill of discovering marbles, which are among my favorite finds.

Some beaches are pristine, while others hold both treasure and trash. It’s the real, unpolished story of this coastline. So as we hunt, we’ll also bring bags to collect plastic and debris, doing our small part to honor and care for the beaches that give us so much beauty.

Every day is different — tides shift, beaches change, and sometimes the sea lays out entire piles of glass just waiting to be sifted through. When the ocean gifts us abundance, we take home as much as we’d like. It’s not uncommon to collect several pounds, but we’ll focus on choosing pieces with strong jewelry-making potential: smooth, frosted, unique, and full of character.

You’ll enjoy:

  • Guided sea glass hunts with transportation included, always timed around ideal low-tide windows

  • Expert tips for spotting rare colors, shapes, and pieces with history

  • Local beach knowledge, tide guidance, and safety support from someone who knows the coastline deeply

Every hunt is an adventure — part treasure-seeking, part exploration, part ocean meditation — and every day brings something new.
