Paths of Peace - Cultural Trek in Ladakh

Arrive in Delhi, India’s vibrant capital. You’ll be met by a Travel 4 Good (T4G) facilitator who will assist with your transfer to a comfortable hotel near the heart of the city. (If your flight arrives at different times from our transfer speak to us for transfer arrangement options).

Settle in, take time to acclimate, and enjoy a warm welcome dinner and trip briefing. This evening offers an introduction to the journey, setting the stage for the cultural experiences and meaningful connections to come.

Begin your day with an early start for an excursion to Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. Discover the stunning beauty of this world wonder, followed by a visit to Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Return to Delhi in the evening for a relaxed dinner and an opportunity to reflect on the day’s experiences.

Today, engage with a local Non for profit and meet community members dedicated to impactful social work. Gain insight into the issues they address and the inspiring solutions they offer. This encounter provides a firsthand look into the lives of those making a difference, culminating in a shared meal that deepens the connection.

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner 

Immerse yourself in Old Delhi’s historical charm with a guided tour through Mughal-era architecture, vibrant markets, and narrow lanes steeped in history. Conclude with a culinary experience, sampling traditional foods that capture the rich flavors of Delhi’s heritage. This day’s exploration offers a deeper understanding of the city’s cultural legacy.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch 

**Activities**: Scenic flight to Leh, welcome drinks, acclimatization 
**Accommodation**: Hotel Omasila, Leh 
**Highlights**: Arrive in Leh and settle into your hotel, with time to acclimatise to the altitude. On the second day, explore Leh at your own pace, with optional visits to the Leh Palace and the ancient monasteries of Shey, Thikse, and Hemis, or enjoy last-minute shopping in the Leh market.

**Travel**: 1.5-hour drive to Likir, followed by a 9 km trek (7 hours) 
**Activities**: Trek across Phobe La and Chagatse La passes, visit Sumdo village 
**Accommodation**: Trekking camp or homestay in Yangthang 
**Highlights**: Start the trek from Likir, ascending to Phobe La Pass and enjoying views of traditional Ladakhi villages. Descend into a gorge, crossing a stream on a wooden bridge, and arrive at Yangthang village for an overnight stay, experiencing Ladakhi hospitality in a homestay.

**Trekking**: 8 km, 3 hours 
**Activities**: Cross Tsermangchan La, explore Hemis Shukpachen village 
**Accommodation**: Homestay or trekking camp in Hemis Shukpachen 
**Highlights**: Trek to the village of Hemis Shukpachen, a place of myths and deep-rooted spirituality. The village is surrounded by juniper trees, which the locals revere. Spend time exploring the village and learning about local traditions, including unique Ladakhi beliefs and practices.

**Trekking**: 10 km, followed by a short drive to Leh 
**Activities**: Cross Meptak La, visit Ang village and Alchi Monastery 
**Accommodation**: Hotel Omasila, Leh 
**Highlights**: Begin with a trek over Meptak La Pass to reach Ang village, where you'll get a final taste of village life. On the way back to Leh, stop at Alchi Monastery, one of Ladakh’s oldest and most revered, to admire its ancient murals and architecture.

**Travel**: Early morning transfer to Leh Airport for return flight 
**Highlights**: Bid farewell to the serene landscapes and vibrant culture of Ladakh as you take a morning flight back, leaving with a heart full of memories and a deep appreciation for Ladakh’s unique cultural heritage.
