Overview

Come down to the Snowy Region of Australia where you learn how to ski or snowboard. Practice independent living skills, socialise, and have a good time in the slopes!

Day 1: Drive to Snowy Mountains and Jindabyne, via Canberra

We'll meet up in the morning in Sydney to head down to the Snowy Mountains. Pick up details have been provided separately.

There will be a lunch stop in Canberra to stretch your legs, go to the toilet and have some lunch at The Civic Hotel.

Grocery shopping

Learn how to plan your meal and shop in the supermarket. Work with your other travel mates and guides on deciding what to buy, finding it in the shop, negotiate on what to buy/not to buy, and help each other out.

With the food you'll practice making brekkies and dinners at your accommodation!

Check-in at accommodation

We will check into our accommodation and unpack the groceries!

Cook dinner together

Together, you can decide what will be for dinner. Make a grocery list, and some of the group can go shopping together.
Allocate tasks in the kitchen, and work together to cook up your meal.

Go to bed early for an early start!

Day 2: Skiing / Snowboarding

On the second day of the trip, we'll head to the ski slope to meet a trainer to teach us how to ski. It doesn't matter how many times you fall over, you still can have fun. Lunch will be provided while at the ski slope.

6.00-6.30am wake-up. Have a simple breakfast, such as toast and cereals. Pack a small bag.
You will travel to the local Visitor Centre.for the 0855am bus to the slopes. You will then collect your equipment and join the lessons as arranged.

11am: Lessons starts.

Dinner and play games

After our first day on the slopes, we will enjoy some dinner together before playing games.

Day 3: Skiing / snowboarding

On the third day of the trip, we'll head to the ski slope again to practice what we learnt the day before. You will have a simple breakfast at the house, and lunch will be provided while at the ski slope.

6.30am: Wakeup. Have a simple breakfast like toast and cereal.

11am: lessons.

Cook dinner and play games

Our final night - we will enjoy a scrummy dinner followed by any last games.

Day 4: Cook breakfast together

Make some breakfast together and eat by the big table for your final meal in the house. After you'll work together to get your things packed and tidy before heading off towards Sydney!

Snow Hydro Museum

Go for a drive to explore and learn more about the area!

Go to Snowy Hydro to explore the past, present and future of the mighty Snowy Scheme at Cooma’s must-see attraction. https://www.snowyhydro.com.au/visit/snowy-hydro-discovery-centre/

Time 1130am as we are awaiting confirmation from the Discovery Centre.

Note: Cooma is about 1 hour drive from Jindabyne, so you can leave around 10am.

Nanny Goat Hill Lookout

Drive to Nanny Goat Hill Lookout in Cooma to take in the views over the area, and take a photo of the mountain goat statue!

Lunch at Cooma

We will have lunch at the Alpine Hotel.

Drive back to Sydney

After a morning of activities, we will head back to Sydney via Goulburn to take some photos.

HOW TO REGISTER/BOOK:

Deposit: $150 (self funded)

What the NDIS Can Cover: up to $3865

Self Funded: Early Bird $1134 (including deposit) or Standard $1434 (including deposit)

Total cost: $4999 - $5299

Self-managed:
When it's open for bookings, simply go to the $ invoice tab, choose package, and pay your deposit.

You will get a reminder when you need to pay the rest of the cost.
Claim back from NDIS afterwards.

Plan managed:
Ask your plan manager if you can spend your funding on this trip. Once confirmed, pay the deposit and claim back when we send you your receipt.
We will then send the outstanding invoice to your plan manager.

Accommodation: All accommodation included. Price based on shared sleeping arrangements. (If single room is required you can request this for an additional fee).

Inclusions: All main meals (except where stated), local transport, support guides, entrance fees/activities plus mountain access cards, lift tickets (2 days), ski/boots/poles hire for 2 days, ski jacket/pants for 2 days, helmet for 2 days and ski/snowboard 2 hour lesson x 2.

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS:

We will cater for some food allergies or vegetarians if you specify your dietary requirements in the Traveller Profile. You will be asked to fill a Traveller Profile when booking.

NOT INCLUDED:

Insurance: It is highly recommended you have travel insurance. Travengers’ travel insurance does not cover travellers. Make sure your insurance covers you for your needs and activities and any health conditions you may have.

Drinks: Alcohol, drinks, morning tea/afternoon tea and other snacks is not included in the price.

Transport to meeting point: Transport to/from meeting point is not included.
